To keep Canada’s oil and gas industry strong, we have to build pipelines to get our energy products to market. Experts have called Energy East a pipeline recycling project that strengthens Canada. It is a project that will create jobs throughout the country and add an additional $36 billion to the Canadian economy over the next 20 years. Most importantly, the creation of the Energy East pipeline means energy independence for Canada. Currently 86 per cent of oil refined in Eastern Canada comes from foreign sources such as Saudi Arabia, Nigeria, Venezuela and Algeria – imports that costs Canadians more than $10 billion to buy oil when our country has the third-largest proven reserve of oil in the world. Energy East will replace that foreign oil with Canadian oil. The pipeline will keep jobs and tax revenue in Canada. It is rare that a national infrastructure project is so sensible. That is why many people in the industry were surprised to see the announcement from the Ontario Energy Board yesterday. The board called the benefits of the pipeline “modest” for Ontario which is the opposite of what the Canadian Energy Research Institute indicated. They believe that Energy East will mean:
Be vocal in your support for market access. Share this post on your Facebook and Twitter profile. Talk with your friends and family about why pipeline projects such Energy East, Keystone XL, the Trans Mountain expansion and Northern Gateway are important. And if you see a politician on the campaign trail, let them know market access for Canadian energy products is important to you. 以上信息来源: http://www.energycitizens.ca/get-the-facts/be-vocal-on-market-access |
